Nouveau Gown WIP

I've gone nearly silent on every social media venue I am usually present on, and I swear there is a good reason! The fact is, I'm getting married this year in May, and decided that I wanted to design and create my own dress (and am following the "he cant see the dress before the day" tradition). Hardly a new concept, I know, but I'm not the most confident of seamstresses, and have absolutely no professional training. No, I don't say that boastfully or in hope of praise. It's downright frustrating not knowing the polished, correct, or strongest way to create a garment, and there is only so much I can learn from pictures / my imagination. All that aside, I so desperately wanted to force myself to make something so fantastic, something so beautiful and as well constructed as I could possibly manage, that my other hobbies have had to take the back seat temporarily. 

WELL! If the title wasn't enough to tip you off, the concept of my gown (and over all wedding theme) is Art Nouveau. After studying my favorite Nouveau art pieces, as well studying some fantastic Edwardian garments, I created this design in hopes that it would capture the beauty and feel of that time. Of course it won't completely, as a part of me can't let go of my love for Fantasy, so there are elements of that present as well. 

It's make of three kinds of silk (moss colored dupioni, steely green chinese silk, and a golden ivory chiffon), and will be adding nude mesh long sleeves (with more of the steel green chinese silk as cuffs) later on. I am currently beading dark gold glass seed beads around the scrollwork on the peplum / hip petal things, and am attaching brass filigrees (purchased at the Bead store in the LA Textile district) and beads to the belt. And yet there is still much more to come!
